Happy New Year

Well it's January 1st so it is technically a new year. So maybe a quick recap is in order. That and I haven't posted anything in over a month, I'm sorry.
So 2013, you were alright, not the best, but pretty good.

I started this blog! Wooohoooo!!!
I also was on HGTV and they renovated my bedroom....

Went and saw some great concerts and hangout with amazing friends.....

I renovated the crap of out of the house and then sold it.....

I also moved from New Jersey back to Pennsylvania....

So it's now 2014 and I'm not going to say 'I'm going to do this' or I'm going to stop doing that', I'm just going to be happy. Maybe I'll write more blog posts too ;)

I hope you had an eventful year and a Happy New Year everyone!!

Post Thanksgiving Wrap Up

I can't believe its Monday already! This weekend just flew by. My brain has been a little foggy with all the turkey and wine ;)
And my episode of The High Low Project was on and I didn't even get to see it. I'm kinda glad I didn't because I don't want to see myself look silly on national television. Hahahahaha. But at least I can't post all the pictures I want. I wasn't allowed to post anything until the show aired, and that was difficult. HA.
So now I can post pictures of EVERYTHING!! Yay!

Like the amazing carpet they picked out.

This carpet is huuuge, it's maybe 8x10 feet!
And how good do my floors look?! I'm glad they dried in time :)

But I think my favorite things in the room are my pictures that they framed.

They are pictures I took when I lived in Brooklyn and they were on my Instagram!

I'm not gonna lie, the yellow dresser is pretty amazing!!!

And here is the bed and canopy.

The new headboard is actually packed up because we just sold the house. I know crazy!!! But luckily I can take everything with me.
I can even put this canopy up somewhere else. It is just curtain rods!!

The episode was filmed almost 4 months ago so the room have gotten plenty of use. Unfortunately the kids think it's bed now and I can't ever get them out :)
Maybe I should redo their room and then they will go back. Hahaha.

I also had a great Thanksgiving with my family, I guess that is the whole point to the holiday.

My Papa was the happiest man in the world I think :)

The High Low Project

Today is the big day!!! The episode of The High Low Project will be on today at 2:00est on the HGTV channel.
Here is a quick preview.

I love this little couch. It so soft and comfortable. And there is nothing I love more than some faux fur so that pillow is totally me.

It's so bright and colorful. Even the flowers matched!

It's definitely my favorite room in the house.

Everyone tune in and watch. And don't tell me how dorky I am! I am already super embarrassed to watch. In fact I will be traveling and won't be able to watch!
So let me know how it is :)

HGTV filming

What a craaaaazzyy week it has been!! The HGTV crew came into the house Monday and completely exploded. They had a buffet in the kitchen.

An office in my dining room.

And the crew is so sweet, I just wanted to hang out with them all night :)

HGTV was sweet enough to get us a hotel room Monday night. It was a little strange staying at a hotel a mile from your house, but the kids loved it.

Then I spent the week in Philly hanging out with friends and it was amazing!! I took Logan to Pizza Brain in Fishtown, it's really cool pizza place that's also a pizza museum. It's super cute and Logan loved all the toys.

There were even toys in the floor!

Oh and the pizza was suuuuper delicious :)
So the filming it almost over and I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited to have my house and shower back. Hahaha.
Not to mention my new bedroom!!! Sooo excited!!!
If you didn't see the picture before here is a sneak peek.

The show will air sometime in November or December. I will tell everyone when it's on, don't worry ;)

Happy Friday everyone!

Tearing Up the Floors

So I've been wanting to redo the floors in the house since we've moved in, it was a lot harder than I thought though. The people who lived in the house before us had carpet over the hardwood and I think carpet is kinda gross, especially if you have a cat that peed everywhere, like the people before us...
So we ripped up the carpet the night we moved in, no joke, and started ripped up staples off the floor. Since there was carpet there were rows of staples in the floor and you have to take them out one by one. There is no easier way, I googled, YouTubed and asked everyone I saw at Home Depot.

These were my tools for the job...
A tinie tiny screw driver
Pliers
And this awesome staple remover
I also had a mason jar to put all the staples in.

It took a couple bloody knuckles to get a good flow going ;)

But eventually the whole room was done. And now it was ready to sand...

So after watching some videos about sanding the floor I thought I was ready to give it a go. We rented a drum sander from Home Depot. You go over the floors with a 80 grit sandpaper and then again with a 20 grit. Then I took a palm sander and did the same thing around the edge and then it was done.

And then I stained it.

I just took a little towel and started in one corner and just went back and forth rubbing the stain in. It's kinda like a big coloring book, your trying to stay in the lines and have an even color.
Then I put the polyurethane on, this was the easiest part but you have to let it dry, like, forever. Seriously. It says you should let it dry for 3 days and not to put furniture on it for a week. Well, I put the polyurethane on Friday morning and HGTV is filming in the room now, oops.

And on that note, HGTV is filming at my house now!! And it is absolute craziness!
I don't think I actually knew what would go into filming a show in your house..... It's a HUGE thing! My neighbors probably hate me or think I'm crazy, with the line of cars in front of my house and a camera in my front yard.
This was my son living up his dream of a camera man ;)

And today was his first day of kindergarten. So it's been wild around here to say the least.
Tomorrow we get to see the room they are decorating and I am suuuuper excited!!!!

I met Sabrina Soto!!!!

Happy Friday everyone!!! So yesterday was the first day of filming for the 'High Low Project' and I was suuuuuper nervous. I don't get nervous very often so that's saying a lot. Maybe I should of taken a shot of tequila before or something ;)
I was waiting for them to say 'action' and I thought my legs were going to collapse under me. No joke.
It was super weird at first. You sit there talking to her and there is a camera two feet in front of your face. Oh and about 20 other people sitting around the room. But don't look at them or the camera. Hahaha. But after the power went out, twice, I felt much more comfortable. Sabrina was super sweet and nice. I totally want her to be my new bestfriend and drinking buddy ;) We could drink wine and she could give me design tips and I could make her cookies! It would be the perfect friendship. Ok maybe I went to far. Lol.
it was a really fun day except that it rained when we were filming our entrance. Look for me using a $200 yellow umbrella!!! Crazy! Thankfully the wind didn't blow it away ;)
Oh and this was my outfit

Dress from Anthropologie, but its sold out now :(
Necklace from Anthropologie
Shoes by JustFab
I only got this picture and its not very good. Sorry, I was nervous!

Now I'm going to be working on my house for the next month until they start filming again. I will let everyone know when the episode will air but I don't think it will be till the fall.

Have a great weekend :)

Burning Down the House

Aw man, what a blllahh week. I feel like I can't do anything right this week. Ugh.
No joke.
I tried to make 2 different types of cookies this week. Both of which I make allllll time time. Both turned out awful. Wtf?! That is the most frustrating thing ever! I took pictures of every step and everything! The cookies themselves are kind of difficult to make but that shouldn't matter, I've made them a million times.
So I guess this just goes to show, it doesn't matter how good you are at something's, you can still f**k up.

Here are my jacked up cookies.

They are still delicious but look kinda awful.
I would feel bad giving this ugly cookies to a homeless person.
Ok, maybe I went to far there because homeless people love my cookies ;)

The other recipe didnt turn out so awful but it was super easy so it's hard to mess it up.
And anything that is make with confetti cake, I'm a fan of.
That includes these Gooey Butter Cookies. Thanks Paula :)

Ingredients-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Confectioner’s sugar, for dusting
1   (18 ounce) box moist chocolate cake mix
1   (8-ounce) brick cream cheese, room temperature
1   egg
1   stick of butter, room temperature

Directions

In a large bowl with an electric mixer, cream the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Beat in the egg. Then beat in the vanilla extract. Beat in the cake mix. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours to firm up so that you can roll the batter into balls.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll the chilled batter into tablespoon sized balls and then roll them in confectioner’s sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake 12 minutes. The cookies will remain soft and gooey. Cool completely and sprinkle with more confectioners’ sugar, if desired.
So much better :)

They are like little cake pillows.
Delicious.

Maybe I can't bake because I can't stop thinking about what I'm going to wear on HGTV!! I need 3 different outfits to wear on camera. This is a very important thing!
Someone please help me!!!
